How to transfer your stocks portfolio to the Bitso app

Already investing on another platform and want to consolidate your assets in Bitso? With portfolio transfer, you can move your investments easily and securely.

What is a portfolio transfer? 

It's a process that lets you move your stocks and investments from another app directly to your Bitso account, without selling your assets or making manual withdrawals.

What do I need to transfer my portfolio?

  • Active Bitso account with access to investments.
  • Account on the source app (currently available for GBM, Plata, and Fintual).
  • Account number from your source app.
  • Recent account statement from your source app.

Important: Only full portfolio transfers are available at this time. You can't transfer specific assets or make partial transfers.

How do I transfer my portfolio?

  1. Start the transfer. Go to the "Portfolio" section, select the "Stocks" tab, and find "Portfolio transfer." Then tap "Transfer stocks."
  2. Select your source app. Choose the app you're transferring your assets from.
  3. Enter your account information. Enter your account number from your source platform.
  4. Upload your account statement. Upload your most recent statement in PDF format. Make sure the document is legible and up to date.
  5. Accept the terms. Read and accept the transfer authorization terms. This step is required to process your request with our partner Alpaca Securities LLC.

How long does it take? 

Once we submit your request, the transfer can take between 5 to 7 business days to complete. You can check the status in the "Portfolio transfer" section.

Can I transfer only some stocks? 

Only full portfolio transfers are available right now. All transferable assets in your account will be moved.

What happens to my fractional assets? 

It depends on the broker you're transferring from. Some custodians don't support fractional asset transfers, so those will be sold at market price and you'll receive that amount in cash. We'll let you know in the app if this applies to the option you selected.

Can I cancel the transfer once it's started? 

Once you confirm the request and the process begins, it can't be cancelled.

Is there a fee? 

Bitso doesn't charge for this service. However, your source app may have outgoing transfer fees. We recommend checking this. If the transfer is worth $3,000 USD or more, you can request a reimbursement.

Do I need to close my account on the other platform? 

Not necessarily. The full transfer moves your assets but doesn't automatically close your account on the source app.
