After carefully listening to feedback from our community, we’ve decided to discontinue the Web3 Wallet on January 15, 2025. While the benefits of decentralization remain, we recognize that the Web3 ecosystem can feel complex, and we want to provide simpler, more seamless experiences that make exploring Web3 easier for all our users.
What does this mean for me?
You can continue using the Web3 Wallet as usual until January 15th, 2025. After this date, the access to the Web3 Wallet will be disabled, and you will no longer be able to view, access, or transact with it.
What happens to my tokens and NFTs?
To keep access to your tokens and NFTs, you’ll need to export your private key, which will let you access these assets from other Web3 wallets. The process is quick and easy to complete:
- Open the Web3 Wallet in the Bitso App.
- Tap on the "Private Key" shortcut and follow the remaining steps.
We recommend saving your private key in a secure location. Remember, this key grants you access to your funds, so it’s crucial not to share it with anyone. If you lose this key, you'll lose your funds too.
Is there any cost to exportsave a private key?
You won't pay any fees to exportsave your private key. The process is entirely free.
What happens if I don't export mysave a private key?
If you don't export your private key until January 15th, you will lose access to the tokens and NFTs on the Bitso Web3 Wallet. This is why we strongly recommend you to do this process before this date. It's quick and it guarantees access to your assets even after the Web3 Wallet is discontinued.
How can I use the private key in other Web3 wallets?
To use your private key in another Web3 wallet, follow these steps:
- Open the new Web3 wallet app and locate the option for "Import Wallet" or "Add Account."
- Choose the option to import with a private key—some apps may label this as “Use Private Key” or “Enter Private Key.”
- Paste your private key into the provided field and confirm.
Does it mean that Bitso will discontinue the Bitso app in the future?
No. Discontinuing the Web3 Wallet is part of our commitment to offering simple, seamless crypto solutions to our community. We're focused on building better Web3 products that fulfill your needs while taking care of your funds.
