A passkey lets you confirm it's you with your fingerprint, face or device PIN, instead of waiting for a one-time code by SMS. You still enter your password to log in. The passkey replaces the code that normally comes after your password.

Passkeys are safer than SMS codes because there is nothing to intercept, copy or forward. They also work anywhere you have internet, even without mobile signal or while traveling.

Your passkey is saved by your device or password manager, not by Bitso: iCloud Keychain on Apple devices signed in to the same Apple ID, Google Password Manager on devices signed in to the same Google account, or another password manager such as 1Password or Bitwarden. Because it syncs, a passkey you create on one device usually works automatically on your other devices too.

You can add more than one passkey, which is useful if you use more than one ecosystem, for example an iPhone and a Windows computer. Save each one with a different provider: if you save a second passkey with the same provider as the first, it replaces it instead of adding to it.
