Bitso does not make investment recommendations. The decisions about your portfolio are yours. Trading options carries risk, including losing everything you paid for a contract. Before you trade, Bitso shares the official risk document (the OCC's Options Disclosure Document) so you can read it in full.
Risks to keep in mind
- If you buy an option and the contract does not work out, you can lose all of the premium you paid.
- If you sell a covered call, your gain is capped by the strike, and you stay exposed if the stock falls.
- If you sell a cash-secured put, you have to buy the shares at the strike even if the market price is well below it.
- Your collateral stays locked for as long as the contract is open.
- News and earnings can happen between market close and open, so prices can open far from where they closed.
You can find the full detail in the OCC's official risk document, available in the Options section of the Bitso app.
