How to get approved to trade options on Bitso

Modified on:

To trade options on Bitso, you need a verified Bitso account and an activated Stocks account. There is no minimum portfolio size. What determines your access is the approval level you are assigned, not how much you have invested.

How to apply

Open the Options section in the Bitso app. Answer a short questionnaire about your experience and risk tolerance, sign the options agreement, and confirm you received the official risk document. You get an answer right away, and Bitso also notifies you by push notification and email.

Approval levels

  • Level 1: sell covered calls and cash-secured puts, the strategies backed by shares or cash you already hold.
  • Level 2: everything in Level 1, plus buying calls and puts.

Your level depends on your questionnaire answers. In this first release there are no multi-leg strategies (spreads) and no naked options at any level.

The Learn Options lessons

Finishing the Learn Options lessons is optional. They do not change your access level or approve your account. They are there to help you feel more confident before you start trading, whenever you want to go through them.

Didn't work? Here's what to do

If you are not approved, you get a clear result and can apply again once. If the second attempt also does not go through, you can try again after 60 days. Bitso does not share the specific reason behind the decision.
