What are the discount factors used to calculate Trading Power?

Modified on:

When you calculate your Trading Power for margin trading, each asset in your collateral does not count at its full market value. Bitso applies a discount factor to each asset, and less stable assets count for less.

The table below shows the discount factor currently applied to each supported asset in the Margin Wallet.

AssetDiscount factor
Cardano (ADA)0.88
Argentine peso (ARS)0.99
Avalanche (AVAX)0.88
Bitcoin Cash (BCH)0.90
Bitcoin (BTC)0.98
Colombian peso (COP)0.99
Dogecoin (DOGE)0.80
Ethereum (ETH)0.96
Euro (EUR)1.00
Chainlink (LINK)0.88
Litecoin (LTC)0.90
Mexican peso (MXN)1.00
Solana (SOL)0.93
TRON (TRX)0.84
Uniswap (UNI)0.87
US dollar (USD)1.00
Tether (USDT)1.00
Stellar (XLM)0.85
Ripple (XRP)0.95

A discount factor of 1.00 means the asset counts at its full market value as collateral. A lower factor means only part of its market value counts. For example, 1,000 US dollars of Dogecoin (DOGE) at a 0.80 factor counts as 800 US dollars of collateral.

Bitso reviews these factors periodically based on market conditions, so the number you see in the app can differ from this list. The order form and Portfolio always show the factor and Trading Power that apply to your account right now.
