BC Protege+ is a system run by Brazil's Central Bank that lets you block new payment accounts from being opened in your name once you activate this protection. This system is specific to Brazil and only applies to accounts opened in that country.
What BC Protege+ does
BC Protege+ works as an extra layer against fraud. When you activate the protection linked to your CPF (Brazil's individual taxpayer ID number), no institution authorized by the Central Bank, including Bitso, can open a new payment or deposit account in your name.
When someone applies to open an account, the institution checks BC Protege+. If the protection is active, the institution cannot complete the account opening and tells you the reason for the denial.
How to check or manage your protection
- Log into your gov.br account and go to the logged-in area of Meu BC.
- Look for the BC Protege+ section.
- Check whether there is an active restriction linked to your CPF.
- Activate or remove the restriction as needed.
Didn't work? Here's what to do
If you tried to open an account and it was denied because the protection was active, follow these steps:
- Log into your gov.br account and go to the logged-in area of Meu BC.
- Check whether there is an active restriction on your CPF.
- Remove the restriction directly in BC Protege+.
- Request the account opening again after removing the restriction.
If the restriction was not active and your account is still denied, contact our support team to review your case.
