What is GRAM (formerly TONcoin)?

Modified on:

TON's native token changed its name from TONcoin (TON) to GRAM. The TON community voted for this change, which took effect on June 15, 2026.

What is GRAM?

GRAM is the native token of the TON network, previously known as TONcoin (TON). The technology, the network, and how the token works stay exactly the same. Only the name and the ticker changed. You can use GRAM to send and receive funds, pay network fees on the TON network, and trade it on Bitso.

What changed on Bitso?

Bitso is applying this change in two steps. In the first step, you may temporarily see the asset labeled as TON or as TON (GRAM) in the app while we complete the update. Both labels refer to the same asset. In the second step, Bitso will complete the full switch to GRAM as the official name and ticker in the coming weeks. We'll notify you before that happens.

Is your balance safe?

Yes. Your balance is safe and stays yours. Deposits and withdrawals work the same way as before. TON and TON (GRAM) refer to the same asset, so seeing either label does not mean you have two different balances.

Do you need to do anything?

No. Your balance switches to GRAM automatically once the full migration happens. You don't need to send, convert, or move your funds. If you have questions or notice anything unusual with your balance after the update, contact our support team through chat.
