Why can't I withdraw, convert, or disable Earnings?

Modified on:

In some cases, Earnings operations may be temporarily suspended for a specific asset. Here's what's happening and what you can do.

What does it mean that operations are suspended?

When exceptional market conditions affect the immediate liquidity needed to process atypical transaction volumes, we temporarily suspend the following operations for that asset:

  • Withdrawals
  • Conversions and orders
  • Disabling Earnings  (unenrolling)

This measure protects everyone's funds. Your balance is safe and still yours.

Why does this happen?

Some of the available assets in Earnings generate returns through external staking protocols. These protocols have their own lock-up periods, which means Bitso can't always access funds instantly. To ensure liquidity is always available, Bitso maintains a reserve.

When that reserve reaches critical levels (during periods of high withdrawal demand, for example), we temporarily suspend outflows to protect everyone's funds.

This suspension only applies to the specific asset affected. The rest of your assets and operations on Bitso are not impacted.

What can I do in the meantime?

  • Check your balance: You can review your Earnings balance at any time from the app.
  • Buy more of the asset: Purchases remain available during the suspension.
  • Wait for reactivation: Operations are automatically restored as soon as liquidity levels are back to the appropriate level.

Are my funds at risk?

Your balance remains recorded in your account, and this step is intended to support a smooth withdrawal process once things return to normal. This temporary suspension is a precautionary measure designed to help ensure that your assets remain available while withdrawals may take a little longer than usual.
