Why didn't I receive my security code by SMS on Bitso

Modified on:

There are several reasons why you may not have received your security code by SMS when you log in, change your password, or register your phone. Check the following before you request a new one.

Common reasons the code doesn't arrive

  • Weak phone signal: turn your phone off, wait 30 seconds, and turn it back on.
  • Third-party apps: some apps, such as spam blockers, antivirus, or SMS filters, can block incoming SMS.
  • Full phone storage: free up space so you can receive new messages.
  • Do not disturb or airplane mode: turn these off before you request a new code.
  • Short codes blocked by your carrier: contact your carrier to confirm your plan allows messages from short codes (the shortened numbers companies use instead of regular phone numbers).
  • International roaming: check that your phone has coverage and is not roaming.
  • Blocked numbers: check that you have not blocked Bitso's number on your phone.
  • Reported SIM: check that your SIM has not been reported lost or stolen recently.
  • Phone plan: check that your plan is active.
  • Messages from other services: check that you receive SMS from other services, for example banks, Uber, or Google.

How to unblock numbers on Android

  1. Open your Messages app and tap the three-dot menu in the top right corner of the screen.
  2. Select "Spam & blocked" to see the list of blocked senders.
  3. Tap the message you want to unblock and select "Unblock".

How to unblock numbers on iOS

  1. Go to Settings and select "Phone".
  2. Select "Blocked Contacts". Swipe from right to left on the number you want to unblock and tap "Unblock".

Didn't work? Here's what to do

Try the following:

  1. Request the code again and wait a few minutes before you try once more.
  2. Try the process from another device, for example from a computer if you were on your phone.

You can request the code by SMS up to three times. If you still haven't received it after three attempts, write to us in the chat in the app or on the web and our team will help you. Tell us which process you were using (log in, password change, or registration) and the date and time you tried.

If you think your phone number is wrong, update your phone number.
