Portfolio performance shows how much your investments have gained or lost due to market movement, not how much money you added or withdrew. It displays in the currency you have chosen for your account, such as US dollars, Brazilian reais, Argentine pesos, Mexican pesos, or Colombian pesos. It applies to digital assets, stable digital currencies (like USDC), stocks, and any other investment product available on Bitso.
How portfolio performance is calculated
Bitso excludes deposits and withdrawals from the calculation, so what you see reflects the real performance of your investments rather than the money you moved in or out. This approach shows the true growth or loss of your assets and prevents deposits from being mistaken for gains.
Why portfolio performance differs from your deposits
Your deposits and your portfolio performance measure two different things.
| Metric | What it reflects |
|---|---|
| Deposits | How much money you added |
| Portfolio performance | How much your assets grew or fell in the market |
Even if you recently deposited a large amount, your portfolio performance reflects only the gains or losses from price movements. For example, if you deposit 1,000 and your balance grows to 1,050 in your selected currency, your portfolio performance shows +50, not +1,050.
How often portfolio performance updates
Portfolio performance updates continuously throughout the day as market prices change. Digital asset markets operate around the clock, so the value of your assets can move even when you are not making any transactions. The figure you see reflects price movements from around the last hour.
How Earnings yields affect portfolio performance
Your portfolio performance includes the yields you receive from Earnings. Unlike a deposit from your bank or another wallet, Bitso does not treat Earnings yields as money added that needs to be removed from the calculation. Instead, it counts them as a gain from your savings, so your portfolio performance reflects the real growth of your investments.
Differences between weekly, monthly, and yearly performance
Each timeframe measures your portfolio performance over a different period, so the numbers will not match.
| Timeframe | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Weekly | How your assets changed over the last 7 days. It can move a lot when the market is volatile. |
| Monthly | A longer trend that smooths out short-term swings. |
| Yearly | The big picture of how your investments performed over time. |
Each timeframe starts and ends at different market prices, so the results will differ. This is expected and does not mean something is wrong with your account.
