How does borrowing work on Bitso Alpha?

Modified on:

  • Auto-borrow and Auto-repay: Bitso Alpha automatically handles borrowing and repayment for you, making margin trading smoother.
  • Auto-borrow (when you place an order): If your order is larger than your available balance, the system automatically borrows what you need when you place the order (not when it fills). If you cancel before the order fills, the borrowed amount is automatically repaid, though interest may still accrue for the time you held the borrowed funds.
  • Auto-repay (when you close a position): When you close a position, the system uses what you receive to repay the asset you borrowed, interest first, then the principal amount. Any leftover funds or shortfall adjusts your margin equity accordingly.

Where can I see interest charges?

Interest builds up hourly and appears as separate Interest entries in History, Margin. The Alpha order ticket shows a borrowing disclosure with a link to rate information. Your History and Positions sections reflect all borrowing, repayment, and interest activity.
