Is Bitcoin's price in local currency tied to its price in US dollars (USD)?

Modified on:

Bitcoin (BTC)'s price in local currency, such as Mexican pesos, Brazilian reais, Argentine pesos, or Colombian pesos, is not directly tied to its price in US dollars (USD). In practice, the two usually stay very close to each other.

Each exchange sets its own bitcoin price. That price is not fixed: it moves based on the buy and sell orders that users place on that specific platform. This is why the price you see on Bitso can differ slightly from the price on another exchange.
