What are the main signs of Investment Fraud?

Modified on:

Scams involving cryptocurrency investments can occur in a variety of ways, but they are all filled with false promises, such as exorbitant returns in a short time, and false guarantees. Bellow, you can find the most common signs of this type of scam. If you believe someone is trying to run a scam, please contact Bitso immediately through our official channels:

  • Bitso Chat: https://bitso.com/
  • Create a Support  Ticket: https://help.bitso.com/en/support/tickets/new
  • Beware of guarantees and big promises. Scammers often promise that you will make money quickly or that you will get high returns or guaranteed profits. They may offer you money in exchange for nothing, in cash or cryptocurrencies, but even with a supposed celebrity endorsement, do not believe them. You will make money when you sell your cryptocurrency for more than you paid. Do not trust people who tell you they know a better way to earn money.
  • Research before investing. Do an internet search by entering the name of the company and the cryptocurrency and adding words like "review", "scam" or "complaint". If you do the search in Spanish, add words like "comentario", "opiniones", "estafa" or "queja".

  • Anyone who says you have to pay with cryptocurrencies, a money transfer or a gift card to access the Bitso app, to open an account on our platform or to receive the returns from your purchase and sale of cryptocurrency is trying to scam you. If you pay them, there is usually no way to get your money back.
