About LA
Lagrange is a decentralized infrastructure protocol built to provide verifiable computation and cross-chain interoperability using zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs. It is designed to serve use-cases ranging from blockchain scaling to verifiable AI.
The LA token is the native utility token of Lagrange. It powers the network by enabling clients to pay for proof generation, staking or delegation of tokens, and distributing rewards to provers.
Key Points of LA
- Proof-Driven Utility: Clients request proofs (for rollups, AI inference, or cross-chain states) and pay in LA or other tokens; provers are rewarded in LA, creating a direct link between proof demand and token demand.
- ZK Infrastructure Layer: Lagrange offers a prover network and ZK coprocessor to handle off-chain computation with on-chain verification — enabling scalable, trustless applications across chains.
- Governance & Incentives: Token holders can participate in staking/delegation mechanisms, help secure the network and align incentives among builders, provers and users.
- Supply & Emissions Model: The total supply is capped at 1 billion LA tokens; annual emissions are targeted at ~4% to fund network activity and reward providers.
FAQs
- What is LA used for?
LA is the utility token used to pay for proof generation fees by clients, serves as collateral for provers to ensure liveness, and is staked by token holders to secure the network and earn rewards.
- How does Lagrange work?
Clients submit requests for verifiable proofs. Provers stake tokens and generate the proofs off-chain, then commit them on-chain via ZK proofs. This enables multi-chain verification and computation without relying on centralized bridges.
- What makes LA unique?
Rather than focusing solely on transactions, Lagrange is built for computation and verification at scale — handling AI inference, cross-chain data integrity, and infrastructure-level proof generation. This positions it as a key infrastructure layer for the next generation of applications.
- How can I buy LA on Bitso?
- Log in to your Bitso account or sign up if you don’t have one.
- Go to “Buy/Sell” and select 2Z as the token you want to purchase.
- Choose any available fiat currency (MXN, ARS, BRL, COP, or USD) as your base.
- Enter the amount, review the details, and confirm your transaction.
You can track the token’s performance directly in the app.
Tokenomics
The maximum supply of LA is 1 billion tokens.
- Total Genesis Token Supply: 1,000,000,000 LA.
- Maximum Supply: Unlimited (due to a fixed annual emission rate).
- Annual Emission: Approximately 4% annual inflation rate, designed to balance growth and sustainability, and allocated to provers.
- Initial Allocation (Example): 34.8% for community and engagement, 25.4% for early contributors, 18.5% for investors, 11.3% for the foundation, and 10% for the initial airdrop.
- Lock-up: Early contributor and investor tokens are subject to lock-up periods (one year after TGE) followed by two years of linear vesting schedules.
Example Use Case
A decentralized exchange (DEX) wants to offer volume-based trading discounts to its users. Since calculating complex financial metrics across many transactions would be too expensive and slow on-chain, the DEX uses the Lagrange ZK Coprocessor.
The smart contract requests a proof of the complex computation (user trading volume) off-chain. The DEX pays the required fee using the LA token, which incentivizes the Lagrange Prover Network to quickly and verifiably generate the proof. The smart contract then verifies this proof on-chain to apply the correct discount, enabling complex DeFi applications that were previously impossible.
