The stock market has specific hours for trading. If you place an order outside of these hours, it will be processed during “extended hours” or scheduled for the next market day.
- Pre-market hours: 3:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. CST.
- Regular market hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. CST.
- Extended hours: Monday to Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. CST.
- Overnight hours: Sunday from 7:00 p.m. to Friday until 3:00 a.m. CST.
- Weekends and holidays: Orders placed during these times will be executed once the market opens and there is liquidity.
Keep in mind that market hours may vary on holidays or during special events.

Remember that the stock market follows U.S. federal holidays.
On these days, the market closes completely, and orders will be scheduled for the next business day:

- Martin Luther King Jr. Day – third Monday in January
- Presidents’ Day (Washington’s Birthday) – third Monday in February
- Good Friday – Friday before Easter
- Memorial Day – last Monday in May
- Juneteenth National Independence Day – June 19
- Independence Day – July 4
- Labor Day – first Monday in September
- Thanksgiving Day – fourth Thursday in November
- Christmas Day – December 25
