What happens to your deposit if Bitso closes your account

Modified on:

If Bitso closes your account, you can get a refund of your first deposit. Here is how the refund works, how long it takes, and when it does not apply.

Refund of your first deposit

Your first deposit is the first crypto deposit you made before Bitso told you it was closing your account.

If Bitso closes your account for breaking our terms of service or for regulatory reasons, you are entitled to a refund of that first deposit.

The refund equals the full amount of your first deposit minus the standard withdrawal fee for that currency. If your first deposit is smaller than the withdrawal fee, Bitso does not process the refund.

Deposits made after your account is closed

Only your first deposit qualifies for a refund. If you already received a refund for your first deposit, any deposit you make afterward is not eligible for one.

Bitso is not responsible for funds you deposit after you receive the account closure notice.

How long the refund takes

Bitso processes the refund of your first deposit within 30 business days after closing your account.

Once your refund starts processing, you get a notification at the email address linked to your account.

Exceptions

Bitso can depart from this refund process in exceptional cases, such as when a legal or regulatory requirement calls for freezing or seizing your funds.

Didn't receive your refund? Here's what to do

If more than 30 business days have passed since Bitso closed your account and you have not received a refund notification, check the spam or junk folder of the email address linked to your account.

If you still don't find it, contact our support team at customersupport@bitso.com with your account details.
