Bitso uses different sources and strategies to generate yields, and these can change from time to time.

Today, when you enable Earnings for USD or USDT in your Bitso account, enrolled assets get invested in liquid, short-term, low-risk instruments, such as government bonds.

When you enable Earnings for ETH, SOL, ADA, DOT, or ATOM, your yields come from staking, a practice where you earn just by holding tokens. Bitso handles the complexity of setting up, funding, and managing staking liquidity, so you can just watch your balance grow. Your balance normally stays available for withdrawal, even while staking is active, except in extremely rare and unpredictable cases, when Bitso may temporarily suspend outflows for a specific asset to protect everyone's funds.

Rates can't be negative, though the price of any asset involved can change based on market conditions.

All of Bitso's processes are approved and supervised by the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission, the body that issues our Distributed Ledger Technology Provider authorization.
