Connection to dApps

Modified on:

What are dApps and what can I do with them?

Decentralized applications or dApps are web platforms that allow you to make transactions on a blockchain as they serve as a gateway to the Web3.

dApps enable transactions through smart contracts on the blockchain, such as swaps, transfers, buying or selling NFTs, buying assets for online gaming, depositing in liquidity pools, staking and many more.

Some of the most popular dApps among Web3 enthusiasts are: Uniswap, OpenSea, RocketPool, Lido and Aave; also you can choose from up to 20 dApps to get connected directly from your app. Once you connect your Bitso Web3 Wallet to a dApp you will be ready to make transactions!

How do I access or connect to a dApp?

You can connect your Bitso Web3 Wallet by:

The quickest option is to do it directly from your app— just open your Bitso Web3 Wallet and go to the home screen, select the dApps button at the bottom menu and choose one from the list to be able to start doing transactions.

You also have other options:

  • Directly from a dApp website in your mobile phone browser. Whenever you want to start doing transactions you can use WalletConnect from a dApp and choose your app.
  • Directly from a dApp website from a computer or notebook. Whenever you want to start doing transactions you can select Wallet Connect and scan the QR Code with your app by tapping the “Scan” button.

How can I make transactions on decentralized applications (dApps) using my Web3 Wallet?

Think of a dApp as a tool that will allow you to explore more possibilities with your crypto. You can visit the dApp website of your preference on a desktop, from your mobile phone or directly within your app.

Therefore you just need to follow the next steps:

  1. Connect your Bitso Web3 Wallet to a dApp first.
  2. Authorize the connection from your Web3 Wallet
  3. Interact with the dApp and choose the transaction you want to make (buy, sell, swap, stake, etc)
  4. In case you're transacting for the first time with a specific dApp, you will be asked to approve this kind of transaction with the dApp
  5. Confirm your transaction details, please be aware of Gas fees and the address details
  6. You will get a confirmation screen, usually it will take some minutes for the transaction to be reflected due to the blockchain and network congestion at the time you’re performing the transaction.

Remember to have enough funds in your Bitso Web3 Wallet to start doing transactions and to cover Gas fees.

What is WalletConnect?

WalletConnect is a platform that helps dApps (decentralized applications) and Web3 Wallets to get connected, so users can interact and make transactions in the Web3.

Most of the time you can use it by scanning a QR code whenever prompted by the dApp you want to interact with.
