What does it mean to rebalance a Crypto Strategy?

Modified on:

Rebalancing your Crypto Strategy means changing the distribution of the crypto percentages that constitute your Crypto Strategy. You can customize this from your app, that is, increase or decrease the percentage or amount of crypto that you have set aside; or by copying the market cap.

In practical terms, from your Bitso app, you can check your Crypto Strategy once it has been created and do the following:

  • Review the value or total amount it currently holds in your preferred currency.
  • Compare how the distribution percentage (%) has changed since you last modified the Crypto Strategy.
  • Enable or disable notifications to receive weekly reminders on Mondays and keep up with the latest updates on your Crypto Strategy to decide if a rebalance is needed.

What you need to know when rebalancing a Crypto Strategy:

  • When you change the percentages of each crypto and confirm the transaction, individual buy and sell orders are placed simultaneously to assign the amounts corresponding to each crypto according to the new percentages defined.
  • Confirming a rebalance results in a spread  at a lower rate not to affect your progress or earnings, and it is calculated according to the total balance of the Crypto Strategy.
  • The conversion rates when carrying out a rebalance are approximately the same as the market price and may change after the rebalance has been confirmed due to the multiple transactions (crypto purchases and sales) that have to be made for the rebalance.

Remember that after creating a Crypto Strategy you can rebalance it manually, as many times as you want, from the Crypto section in your app, going to the Crypto Strategies tab, Rebalance (in the bottom menu); or after receiving the weekly notification with the latest updates to your Crypto Strategy.
