If you tried to withdraw from your Bitso account and couldn't, there are several possible reasons. Here are the most common ones and what to do in each case.
Account limits
The amount you can withdraw depends on your account level. Check your current level and your withdrawal limit in your account profile.
If you reached your limit, you can request an increase in the app or wait for it to renew. Limits renew every month.
Blocked withdrawals
Your withdrawals may be blocked. Check and unblock this option in your account's security settings.
If your withdrawals already show as unblocked in the security settings and you still can't withdraw, block them and unblock them again:
- Tap "Block withdrawals".
- Tap "Unblock withdrawals".
- Try the withdrawal again.
An active buy or sell order
If you have an active buy or sell order, you can't withdraw the balance reserved for that order. Cancel the scheduled order to release it.
- Go to the Activity tab in the app.
- Find the order in the Scheduled section.
- Tap "Delete scheduled buy/sell" on the order you want to cancel.
Once you cancel the order, the balance becomes available again. The scheduled conversion will no longer run, even if the target price is reached.
Recent password or account data change
If you change your password or any other account data, withdrawals stay blocked for 24 hours. This security measure is mandatory and can't be sped up or turned off, even by contacting our team.
Bitso does this to have time to detect suspicious activity, in case you didn't make the change yourself. It is a security measure and has no relation to any market condition.
After 24 hours, withdrawals are enabled automatically. You don't need to do anything else.
The network fee is higher than the withdrawal amount
Bitso charges a fixed fee on every digital asset withdrawal. This fee covers the cost of the operation and the network fee needed to process the transaction. The fee varies by network and by how congested it is at the time.
For this reason, on small withdrawals the fee can end up higher than the amount you want to withdraw. If this happens, you can't complete the withdrawal until the amount is higher than the fee, or until the network fee drops.
If you still can't withdraw, contact our team through chat, available 24 hours a day.
Exceptional market conditions
When exceptional market conditions affect the funds available to process operations for a specific asset, Bitso temporarily suspends the following operations for that asset:
- Withdrawals
- Conversions, sales and orders
- Earnings deactivation
This measure protects everyone's funds. Your balance is safe and remains yours.
In the meantime, here is what you can do:
- Check your balance in the app at any time.
- Buy more of the asset. Purchases remain available during the suspension.
- Wait for reactivation. Operations restore automatically once available funds return to normal levels.
